Vapor steam cleaners are perfect for spot cleaning, disinfecting and deodorizing all carpeting and area rugs—even fine Orientals—without the use of chemicals. The hot vapor frees the surface of animal hair and other unwanted contaminants, and restores and maintains the vibrant color while raising the pile back to its former height.
Start by vacuuming the carpet to remove loose dust and surface dirt. Then wrap a cloth around the brush attachment. This way the brush will glide over the carpet without risk of tearing the pile. As you gently move the brush over the carpet the heated vapor lifts the dirt onto the wiping cloth.
High traffic or very dirty areas, or surfaces saturated with cleaning products, may require several gentile swipes across the carpet or rug for best results.
To finish, replace the soiled cloth with a clean cloth and repeat. Never rub hard. It’s the heated vapor that does the cleaning not elbow grease. And while vapor will generally not fade or degrade a surface it is used to clean, always test for color fastness in an inconspicuous area of the carpet or rug. If you notice a change in color, or if color transfers to the cloth, do not continue.
